My Experience with Writing and Zen

11-1409201J0413GI was sitting with a zen monk and I couldn’t stop looking out the window in front of me.
“Why are you looking out the window,” he asked, “concentrate on your posture.”
I tried to bring my attention back to my posture but I soon found myself drawn outwards again to the window in front of me.
Smiling, he asked me “are you a a writer.”
“Yes.”
“I feel so sorry for you,” he said laughing.

Thank you, Steve. I wrote this a while back and had forgotten about it. Funny that it resurfaces right when I am in the middle of National Novel Writing Month and I’m cranking out close to 2000 words a day. Insanity.
